This handsome Piedmont Avenue home boasts stately curb appeal and classic 1910’s architecture. The square, commanding design provides a traditional floorplan, efficient use of interior space and a recessed porch with wide inviting front steps. Elegant lines and period detail add romance to the timeless style. Enhancing the emotional appeal of this home are: box beam ceilings, wood floors, and columns; custom stained-glass windows; period lighting and fireplace facades; and a panoramic city-view retreat that can be used as a sunroom, office, or den. The impeccable restoration features a beautiful new kitchen, half bath, laundry and breakfast area, opening to a spacious deck. Generous outdoor space, downward slope and local zoning allows for the addition of a garden unit for rental income, guest quarters, writer’s room or a private art studio. A shingled Craftsman by architect Julia Morgan makes for desirable company next door. The Piedmont Avenue and Temescal neighborhoods are jumping with busy cafés, restaurants, bars and shops. It’s an easy commute to San Francisco by car or BART.

Piedmont Avenue

The Piedmont Avenue district is a lovely stretch from MacArthur Boulevard near the flagship Kaiser medical center, past Pleasant Valley Avenue to the historic Mountain View Cemetery, bounded by Broadway to the north and Oakland Avenue to the south.

Just west of the small city of Piedmont, Oakland's Piedmont Avenue is a lively shopping district, with boutiques and stores that range from the trendy to the traditional.

Neighborhood stalwart Fentons Creamery & Restaurant has been doing business on Piedmont Avenue for more than 50 years, offering its famous ice cream, burgers, and other savory treats. Restaurants Dopo, Addesso, and Michelin-starred Commis call Piedmont Avenue home. The Piedmont Theatre is the oldest movie house operating in Oakland, and screens first-run, independent and foreign films.

Beyond shopping and dining you’ll find plenty to see and do in the Piedmont Avenue district. Mountain View Cemetery offers great architecture by Frederick Law Olmstead and Julia Morgan, plus excellent hiking opportunities and some of the most stunning views of the Bay. Discover Glen Echo Creek, a peaceful hide-away on the other side of MacArthur. Or enjoy a stroll through the Oakland Morcom Rose Garden. On a rainy day, take in a film and support the cherished Piedmont Theatre.

Interstate 580 forms the neighborhood's southern border, convenient for those who drive to work. An AC Transit bus line offers Transbay service to San Francisco during peak weekday commute hours, and the MacArthur Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station is less than a mile away.
